.EPS

Encapsulated PostScript: This is our favorite file type. An .EPS is a graphics file format used in vector-based images in Adobe Illustrator. An EPS file can contain text as well as graphics that are vector based.

Please note, sometime flat or raster images (.JPG or .PNG) can be placed in a .EPS file and will not be vector/outlined.
*This is a preferred file type for all types of printing methods.

.PDF

Portable Document Format: A .PDF file format is used to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems it was created in. When a design file is saved as a .PDF it can still be opened in a design program and edited.

Please note, that if the original file is flattened or a raster image (.JPG or .PNG) it will not be able to be edited.
*This is a preferred file type for all types of printing methods.

Adobe Illustrator Artwork: An .AI file represents a single-page vector-based drawing and can also be saved as a .EPS or .PDF.

Please note, sometime flat or raster images (.JPG or .PNG) can be placed in an .AI file and will not be vector/outlined.

The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. This is a raster-based file type and is not preferred for most printing methods. A .JPG file can be used in digital printing if the file is large enough and of good quality (not pixelated).

.PNG
